Obtaining 312mm Brake Upgrade Stuff

Featured Replies

I went into my local dealer to price up the Octavia vRS calipers and carriers and they come to just over £200 a side . With pads and discs this would be nearer £5-600 to get a complete set. I am hoping to upgrade the brakes within the next month or so if the price is right. I'm not in a big rush for them but I have looked on eBay but there's nothing on there. Does anyone know where I can get a set from?

there is sets on ebay i have been looking into it myself mate around £300-350

email Steve..

Roughly around £300 and all as new parts for the full set.

Yup thats the chap.

Personally I think that kit is quite dear.

For example I got my calipers and carriers brand new (off ebay) for £160. Brand new OE discs and pads for just over £60, wee bit more hassel but that kit is £290 plus £50 delivery.

my total has came to £220 + £5.99 for paint to paint them

......and if you want slightly better discs + pads you can get a Mintex set for £63, £15 delivery off ebay

well i been tryin to find out what models you can get the set up from apart from the tt 225

No they won't fit.

Main models people get them from are Audi S3, MK4 Golf GTI Anniversary, Octavia vRS and the TT 225 that you mentioned.

Hope this helps.

You could try looking the the guide that has a long list of everything you need.

The search button works :P

Why, the rear brakes dont do alot anyhow.

i know but the ones on my fab are warn out thought mainly 4 stylin as im doing the front lowering and rarb i thought why not ? lol

Because they will probably just corrode up quicker.

The only ones that are bigger are the vented ones that will require the full rear set up.

As per post by Lummox above price wise is pretty much the best you'll get for new

The rears - waste of time/money/effort on this car :)

how do you know for sure the rears wont fit? ive got full set off from octy vrs and will find out this weekend if rears will fit.....heres hoping...people say rears dont do a lot but spoke to vag head mechanic yesterday he says brakes will be split front70/30rear at worst so worth doin if they will fit.

Its obvious the rears dont do alot as they corrode up before they wear out.

*mutters something about rear wheels refusing to move thismorning due to rear brakes being stuck on*

They are pretty easy to get stuck if you leave the car parked up for a bit after a rainy day - often just park it in gear now :)

You have drums at the back, on the whole alot better.

Yea I tend to as they stick overnight now regardless of wether, she had been parked since saturday tho, completely forgot. Need to get it sorted really. There are lovely scratch marks where I dragged half a tonne of gravel off the drive with the back wheels stuck lol.

I got mine from steve at vag bitz, £310 for discs, pads, calipers, carriers and hoses, but i think the price has gone up a bit, still a lot cheaper than audi prices though! He's a good chap as well, you wont have any problems.

I just checked his eBay and it says he is located somewhere in Wiltshire so it won't be a massive detour on the way home to get them. I'll contact him nearer the time to see what can be done.
