alternate exhaust manufacturer for mk2 octy vrs

Featured Replies

I thought id start a thread up so people can see there are alternatives to miltek on the market, as many manufacturers do not show the mk2 vRS on theye sites, but do in fact produce exhaust systems for them

piper cams today, they offer 3"down pipe and sports cat(same as miltek) and 2.5 inch cat back with reducer and a variety of back box options for £891 supplied only, they are unable to fit there but recommend a local VAGspecialist.

also you have blueflame who do a full system turbo back system as above but with the same 3" bore throughout for £998 plus fitting

and miltek do the full system for £1158.

pros and cons from those who have used them before would be helpful to all i think.

feel free to correct me if im misinformed and add futher systems

I'd go with Piper- looks like a cracking price + they're quality. Wish I'd spent a bit more and got a Piper for mine instead of the Blueflame.

Blueflame stuff is decent, but their aftersales is shocking IMHO (check out my thread in General).

Milltek is too expensive IMHO, when you have the other two options.

its amazing how much piper are undercutting the other manufacturers especially Milteck. lifetime warrantee as well i think

Jetex do a Cat back system for £409.34 in Stainless Steel, their stuff always seems to be excellent quality

will phone them tomorrow to see if they do a down pipe ad cat, this could be another option.

They do one for the MK1 (I've got one ;) ), so would think they would also do one for the MK2...

From personal experience, given the chance to do the exhaust again, I wouldnt go with Piper!

Leaving aside the fact they damaged the cars ECU by welding the exhaust sections together on the car, (which they totally denied at first; until I mentioned that fact I'd been shooting photos of the installation) which in turn left me out of pocket and inconvenienced in getting it sorted; the quality itself isnt great! The exhaust tip is probably the worst quality one I have ever had on a car (and Ive probably had seven to eight different systems on cars over the years). Im on my second one now and its no better - surface rust within weeks of putting it on infact. Their response was - we are getting varying qualities of metals arrive and there isnt much we can do about it!

I also had to go back for a second silencer to be added (despite specifying this in the first instance) and to me its still too noisy when on only a slight throttle (to maintain speed) compared to others Ive since tried.

The system puts the Engine light on also; Piper say this is the case with all aftermarket exhausts on the Golf platform but it isnt according to some popular tuners on here!

Finally, their email support is patchy at best. Before the car went in for the exhaust it was fine but when I started hitting problems and was dealing with the top guy there a number of emails just didnt get replied to - he blamed their email system for blocking some emails randomly.

All in all I wish I'd have bought a different product but hindsight is a wonderful thing. :o

Hmmm, not good!

Simon, have you thought about Supersprint? Would prob cost a little more, but the quality would be better than all the others mentioned. Might be worth getting on to Will at Performance Torque (see suppliers forum) re: Jetex- I'm sure he'd be able to do a good price, so long as they actually make them for the MK2.

SuperSprint would be my choice tbh. Ive two of their systems; one on a mates M5 a few years back and the quality was simply out of this world imo.

well thats me not going to piper then, that sounds p*ss poor. Im not sure what to get really. Blueflame was meant to be ok, but aftersales meant to be crap when you come into problems. im thinking of miltek from one the forum sponsers on here so i know im going to get a good after service if problems occur, and miltek is mega popular on the Vag models to be fair. Only an extra 200 quid which is worth it in the long run i guess for a quality product and installation

will look into supersprint though

I bought the complete supersprint exhaust system (without cat in the front pipe and without the silencer in the middle) for my RS and can easily say that the built quality is the best among all. I will soon put a video for you to see how it sounds and looks like.

would that not fail the MOT due to emissions plus do you get any lights pop up on the dash either. Take it you have your stage 2 bluefin on now then

Hi,

Just seen your post, try this:-

Skoda Octavia VRS Mk2 Exhaust 3" High Flow Sports Cat on eBay, also Exhaust Components, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Mar-09 12:16:04 GMT)

It's a buy now jobby not a bid for it thing.

I've bought one but not had it fitted yet, it looks well stuck together.

Regards,

Ken.

I have the pipewerx DP as well, like you...not installed yet but looks very well made. Also the guy who makes them is a chap called Ian Birch and for those who were around on the old skool dub scene....the man is a legend, build a load of crazy cars over the years and knows his stuff.

BTW if you contact the seller direct you can haggle on that price as he will sell direct and save the ebay fees....I got mine for £450 inc delivery!
