Koni FSD + Eibachs + 312s now fitted (by JKM)

Featured Replies

Well thought I would post up now that I have the Koni FSDs, Eibachs and 312 brakes now fitted to my Fabia.

They were done yesterday/today by JKM and I picked the car up at lunchtime today. The hour or so drive home gave me a chance to get a feel for the changes to the car and also use both motorway and A and B roads. Granted the car will need some more time and miles to fully settle and bed in but I could quickly feel the difference!

Firstly onto the motorway and I quickly noticed that the lovely smooth, soft crusing ride that I liked so much on the car had gone and the bumps are more pronounced. The same for the A and B too - bumps could be felt a lot more but could feel that the setup absorbs them really well (kind of down and up in one go, bump dealt with kind of motion!). Mind you the difference on some twisties and roundabouts seems great and will be fun when I have less stuff in the boot and on the back seats moving about!

Brakes seem great, abelit I cant give them much welly yet as the news pads need some time and miles too, but I can see they will be awesome. :D

Car is sitting lower now too which is helping cosmetically for sure (see pic below taken today very quickly, hardly the best shot I have ever taken and who would think I'd cleaned the car really well 3 days ago  )

So my summary at this stage leaves me maybe a little dissapointed and unsure about the setup in terms of all round ride quality but I will reserve my judgement until I have put some more miles on the car I think and then post an update!

Also to say many thanks to all at JKM for there great services as usual and also this time for being very helpful and flexible in moving the day the car was due in and still getting it done at late notice.

mines in now getting the exact same set up + rear arb and hopefully the rear bigger/vented discs as well...

It will be a little stiffer but it will drive so much better :)

Also felt today that the steering felt heavier. Might have to have it turned back up a couple of notches on VAG com.

Was not so easier around the multi storey car park!

Any update on this Ryand? I'm looking at getting this done soon once I accumulate all the parts. I'd be interested to hear how the set-up has bedded in after a few months..

Cheers

As much as I love a comfy ride, I would always pick a lowered/stiffened suspension setup for handling.

My Escort GTi handled better than my vRS!!

Yes much better now its bedded in and cover a couple of thousand miles. The brakes are bedded and have a lot more feel now and you can rely on them!

Suspension is firmer but much better now than when first fitted. I've done about 1000 motorway miles in the last month and its fine, not harsh and cruises along nicely. Around town its firm but not crashy and handles nice round corners, especially long sweeping ones with the roll is reduced.

Car sits lower but not crazy low and is fine with speed bumps, with care, I sometimes catch the undertray slightly but nothing very much.

Hope this helps!

Nice one Ryan, can't wait to get mine fitted :D

Did they sort the alignment after fitting all the gear? Mine was miles out after fitting my Weitecs nearly resulting in me putting it in a ditch when it grabbed a nasty bit of camber! If they didn't, then you're best to get it looked at sharpish before it does nasty horrible things to your tyres!
