Odd squeak?!

Featured Replies

Hi all, bought my VRS just before xmas. Love the car but its been back to the garage 3 times allready and counting!! Had the awful leaking in the rear footwells and various other bits and bobs. One thing i sent it in for last week was a rather odd squeak which they havnt fixed!

Basically say your driving along, push in the clutch and then release it rather promptly i get a rather loud squeak. Sounds something like an engine mount loose or something. I get the same noise but a bit quieter over some bumps and so on.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Nick

N/S gearbox mount needs greasing or dogbone mount needs replacing I reckon

how many miles have you done?

Or it could be that pesky spring under your seat.

Its done a little over 32k, I don't think its anything to do with the seat it really does seem like is something to do with the mounting of the engine as its only when its under load that it happens. Also when i start the car to you can hear it slightly.

It does actually sound like its coming from the N/S upfront does the gearbox mount often have this problem?

Yes very common do a search for gearbox mount.

Clunking/ noisy front suspension on the VRS is common I'm afraid it could be anything most likely culprits always seem to be:

N/S Gearbox mount (fix is to apply loads of grease; its located under the battery box)

Rear Wishbone bushes

anti roll bar bushes

droplinks

Dogbone mount (torque mount)
