Fuel Flap Lid Cover thingy

Featured Replies

Ok i've used search to no avail,

My fuel cover lid flap item refused to close flush as if its not clicking into place, I tried gentle movement and slamming the thing shut it just doesnt sit flush. Its on a vrs so its the remote open one which opened fine earlier when filling up with juice and refused to shut. Ive tried all sorts i gave up trying to do it on the forecourt and took car home and had another go. Still it refuses to shut flush.... Suggestions appreciated

Have a look inside the opening. There is a white plastic latch piece which holds it shut. If it has moved, it also prevents the flap lying flat. This is fastened to the cable which goes to the lever. Most likely it has slipped out of its restrainers. Easy to fix - lots of pics on here with a search - but I just took the whole thing off and the flap stays shut without problem.

You might have popped the cable off the back of it. If you open the boot and pull the carpet back from that side you should be able to see if the cable is properly mounted. There are a number of threads on here about it - it happened to me just after I got my vRS, since then I've been very careful about how hard I pull the release handle!

Here's a previous thread - with photos!

I had the same thing happen just out of the blue.

As said if you pull back the carpet on the drivers side youll see a black cable going into the side of the bodywork, it connects near the back of the car and when it pops out you can see like the spring bit exposed, just push the two parts back together, easy peasy.

Hey cheers for the replies, But i went out and fixed it this afternoon. As mentioned above easy really without reading the replies just had a look around and in the boot. All fixed now i think the randomness of it all confused me most :)
