ECU swapping?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to swap a ECU from another car (same part no.) and will i be able to recode it so that i can use it in mine without knowing the SKC from the other ECU.

I have a genuine cable and VCDS so i know my SKC on mine so just need to know if it's possible to do so i will have a spare standard ECU coded to my car that i can swap over.

No, you are going to need the SKC code.

Do you actually know you SKC code? as VCDS can't retrieve it.

I do know my own SKC as i have the original tab with the sticker on,so can i just recode the other ECU to the same code allowing me to just swap them over when i want?

I was under the impression that the SKC was only pertinent to the dash pod (immo)

Cheers Stu, Everyday's a school day:thumbup:
