Stainless Steel Exhaust vRS TDI

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a Performance Stainless Steel Exhaust for the Octavia II vRS TDI?

Am thinking of getting one, but can't find anyone who does them! Any suggestions or recommendations?

If you have one where did you get it from and what was the price?

Cheers

Why? To make it sound like a really loud tractor?

Steve

PS Yes, I've got one and it sounds like a bloody tractor!

So I'm guessing from that, you wouldn't recommend getting one?

Out of interest, what make is yours Steve?

Why not just the downpipe and Cat then whilst retaining your standard Cat back sound

Sorry, I don't have an aftermarket exhaust. What I was meaning was that a PD engine note isn't the nicest noise in the world and doesn't need amplifying - just like most 4 cylinder engines IMHO.

Besides sound tastes, and beside Milltek I'm aware of a Supersprint complete exhaust which gets rid of the DPF headache, too.

How is this done? Surely if the DPF is removed the ECU will need to be reprogrammed as well to tell it that the DPF is not there and I was not aware that this had been done by anyone.

Also I didn't think that Milltek do one; have just checked their website and they only list for the TFSI.

If you want an different exhaust for a vRS TDI then I would suggest you have to go the 'custom' route to a firm like PipeWerx or PowerFlow and settle for a catback system only.

I had longlife make up a custom stainless system for my E class diesel , did away with two cats its pretty much straight through just one silencer .

Not any louder than stock as the turbo does a good job of reducing exhaust noise anyhow but the turbo spools faster and the car is livelier

Sounded a bit tinny at first as stainless systems often do

The full system cost me £400 with a lifetime warranty , MB wanted around £1800 for a full replacement system and there were no pattern ones avavilable

Hi,

look at:

exhaust system SKODA OCTAVIA RS 2.0 TDI (170 Hp) ' 06 ??, exhaust system components SKODA OCTAVIA RS 2.0 TDI (170 Hp) ' 06 ??

and

Exhaust components Pipes Kit for turbo charger.(Replace diesel-shoot filter)With bungs for the pressure fittings and O² sensor. - cod: 914611 SKODA OCTAVIA RS 2.0 TDI (170 Hp) ' 06 ??

"Exhaust components Pipes Kit for turbo charger.(Replace diesel-shoot filter)

With bungs for the pressure fittings and O² sensor. - cod: 914611"

Of course without the DPF the ECU can be taught to make you run better

HTH,

That looks a very professional set of pipes BUT what happens about the programming of the ECU? I see there is a mark on the picture explaining "for Racing use only".

However; one thing the pictures show is there is no 'centre' exhaust box; this confirms an idea I have had for a long time that a simple and cheap modification will be to just cut out the OE centre box and replace it with, say, 650mm of straight pipe. The OE rear box gives quite a good sound/burble and this will then be just a little louder. :D:thumbup:

Hi,

of course they must state "for racing use only" as you deDPF and you alter car behaviour about pollution, etc. But the maps for a DPF equipped vehicle are limited in order to prevent the DPF to clog (and eventually take fire) when fed up with too a rich mix of diesel. So, basically, our engine might be more powerful and free to rev w/o the DPF, OR with a sporty DPF (like HJS KAT DPF, look here:

Just be concious that MOTs can be tough to get with "not for road use" exhausts. If it fails on emissions or noise, it's a pain in the bum to change back to the original just to get through the test.

I have to do it each year I MOT the bike, and that's enough of an irritation, and the exhaust sticks right out of the side!

diesels dont have emissions tests on MOT's

I doubt that noise will be an issue either on a diesel

Thanks very much guys. I will look into the Suoersprint option.

Oh yes they do!

I had a Ford Escort a few years ago that failed its MOT due to too much carbon particulate. Had to take it back to VanAAken and get the fuelling/turbo boost wound back to an acceptable level.

However, point accepted in that they don't get tested for CO and NOx so removing the 'cat' will still allow a diesel to pass; whereas removing the 'cat' on a petrol engined car will guarantee to fail it on the MOT.

No they dont its "visible smoke" on the diesel test. Emissions are not measured on diesels

Petrols also have "visible smoke" test as well irrespective of whether they need a cat test or not , if the car is filling the test centre with smoke its a guaranteed fail always has been

Petrols will often pass an emission test without a cat if they are set up correctly my own car has passed the last three mot's without a cat fitted

So why do the testers stick a probe/sensor in the back end of the exhaust pipe on a Diesel (as well as petrol) and you then get a printout with a number of different readings inc. CO2 and particulates IIRC?

Is this not classed as 'emissions'?

So then, in an attempt to get an answer to the original OP's question (rather than a debate on TDI MOT emission tests), what options are there out there for a performance/upgraded exhaust for a VRS TDI?

Agree.

Seems like the options are; Supersprint or something custom and that's about your lot.

Lack of options must be DPF related then, I'd presume, considering Blueflame and all the other usual suspects offer systems for 1.9TDI's and 140 bhp 2.0TDI's

does anyone just do a backbox for a 2.0 tdi?

If money isn't an issue, you can also consider HJS motorsport DPF, look at the latter link I provided.

Back box is the same on the 2.0L tdi (140 and 170bhp) as for the vRS TFSI; I've checked the part numbers on ETKA. So all you need to do is find a back box for the TFSI vRS.

There are certainly ones available from Supersprint, Milltek and Milotec. Happy hunting.

Moving on; I've been out this morning and had the centre box of mine replace with some plain pipe; took about 45 mins and cost me £80. Some observations;

1. The centrer box that has been removed is of a 'straight through' design i.e. no power sapping baffles

2. The inlet on the OE box is at the bottom of the end plate and the outlet is at the top; thus the pipe running through the box and therefore the replacement pipe now fitted, is in the shape of a lazy 'S'.

3. There is no appreciable extra noise to be heard from inside the car.

4. Throttle response seems a little bit sharper, but perhaps this is placebo effect.

Overall, I'm happy. :D;)
