Hi guys,

I plugged my diagnostic kit (not vag-com) into the Fabia today to see what fault codes are coming up. I know the light is on because i've got rid of the EGR but I also had :

16497 P0113 Intake Air Temp.Circ High Input

Now would that be picked up by the MAP sensor? It's a 5 wire as opposed to a 3 wire so it would read air temp. It's a brand new one so i'm thinking it's either got a damaged wire during the accident it has sustained or i've not got it sitting far enough in the airflow on my intercooler.

Yep it is combined with the boost sensor

Best get my multi-meter out. I'm thinking it's a damaged wire because when I clear the codes, this comes back up just by switching the ignition on, before the car is started. I wouldn't have though it would decided the intake air temp is 'out of range' when the engine isn't even running.

yep, a damaged wire could cause it to read at the extreme high end of the scale. I had this when I had a flaky wire on my EGT gauge and it would read 999 degC even with the engine off.

The wires are quite thin so easily damaged. On Wiebos Forge kit I ended up spinning the MAP sensor tube around so it pointed downwards and extended the wiring. as in its normal position it ends up beating itself on the bottom of the lock carrier panel.

Had it apart las night - broke right on the plug so there isn't enough wire left to join it back together. Going to the scrappies tomorrow to cut a bit of loom off and splice it into mine.

Spliced the loom in and cleared the codes with VAG-COM.

Now the car went well, very well before I re-connected the wiring. But very smokey which would result in boost spikes making the clutch slip.

Now that it's re-wired it's a different car!! Very little smoke, no boost spikes and best of all no clutch slip!! I never expected the fact it couldn't read inlet charge temp to have such an effect on the overall performance of the car.
