rear badge removal???

Featured Replies

how do you get the rear skoda badge off without damaging anything?? do you have to take rear inner panel to get to the clips??

also whats the best thing to get the sticky stuff off the car once the badges are removed as on the octavia badge its left behind the old glue and is stuck like sht to a blanket lol

Heat the bage up with a hair dryer, then use old credit card to carefully prise off. Really heat it up though and it comes off very easy.

I replaced my front and back badges last weekend, used a hair dryer to warm up the sticky stuff and then some dental floss to slice it off. There are two holes underneath that the two pegs on the badge sit into.

I cleaned the old sticky stuff off with autoglym intensive tar remover and a microfibre cloth, then cleaned and dried the area before putting the new badge on.

My hairdryer wouldn't reach so I gently poured hot but not boiling water over it and got a fingernail under an edge and it lifted off easily. As for the sticky residue I swear by lemon juice.

cheers ian will give that ago i managed to get the fishing line behind just feels like its clipped in but will have another go later

was hoping to show you some photo's of the car in the new state :D BUT the body shop have well and truly fecked up  so it goes back next week for 3 days to have it all done again

It's not clipped in the 2 pegs are guide pegs so it sits straight.

Whats the bodyshop done mate?

Ian

I've got a row of dents behind my rear badge because some idiot decided to use another car/lorry to shunt it forwards whilst it was at the salvage yard. Not got round to fixing it properly yet!!

they did the front and rear bumpers and drivers side rear quater panel. :D

and the wheels :D

but lets just say my 6 year old daughter could do better with a spray can:mad:

What's the problem, poor match, runs?

Are the wheels sprayed or powder coated?

I want mine doing in anthracite you see.

Ian

the rear quater is lumpy and looks terrible masked line present !!

front bumper masked lines in the grills poor finish!!!

rear bumper got more damage on it now than when it went in:O

wheels are painted but they only painted the front which has runs all over them also certain patches look like the paint has reacted and to top it off they didnt spray inside or clean before spraying went over the balance weights and over dirt and dust:mad: really poor couldnt believe it when i saw them i was loking for geremy beadle to jump out....so its going back for them to try again if not back to a skoda approved and they get charged simple......

i am in such a foul mood :o

no mate i have made some custom badges for it :D

The rear badge is easy to remove , its the front thats a pain as they actually melt the locating pins to hold the badge in better, like it needs to be attached better than the rear

Just makes it a pain to replace when it de-laminates :thumbdwn:

Just cut the lugs off the old one and push it out of the grille when you have to replace it on the front grill, push the new one in and melt the plastic lugs over with a soldering iron.

Replaced my old one a couple of times in the seven years I had the car, but water still gets into it.

Anyone elses badge gone blue?

The green bit on both the front and rear of my Octy has changed to a sort of turquoise colour. Which is odd as it seemed to be like this on all of the Octavias I look at buying, but my old Fabia and SWMBOs Fabia still have the correct shade of green.

Nope, but I can see where water's got under the lacquer on the chrome edging, and made it bubble.
