Knackered Electric Windows

Featured Replies

Hi

My electric windows have stopped working in my Fabia Sport. I've checked the fuses, which all appear ok, and wandered if there is anything else I can check, before taking it to the dealer.

The windows stopped working on the last day of its warranty, a saturday night. I logged the fault with the dealer on the monday morning, and they were like 'yeah no problem we'll do it under warranty', but since then they haven't rang me back....... sounds like they're hoping I either go away or I ring up asking for a paid job to be done!

Try removing the relevant fuse (check your manual for the fuse number), leaving it out for a minute and then re-inserting it. This will reset the controller, which may well just be throwing a wobbler...

Thanks Ap0gee! I had tried just pulling the relevant fuses out to check them, then shoving them straight back in. Apart from that, I'm not sure what else to try....

I'd be getting on the phone to the dealer and asking why nobody has phoned you back! Tell them that the last person you spoke to said it would be still covered.

my switch panel has been a bit iffy recently , press the buttons and get nothing , waggle the buttons whilst pressing and the windows work , worth a try

I've had exactly the same problem in my Fabia Sport! Had my windows right down, went to put them back up when I'd parked the car and they wouldn't go up! Think I might take it to the dealer, don't fancy risking fixing it myself incase I make a hash of it and break something else.. plus I'm not very mechanically minded :P

Benntzy, if you need a new motor complete, then it would be much cheaper for you to get one nearer home - or is it just fitting instructions you need?
