Keyfob not always locking/unlocking doors?

Featured Replies

2001/Y Octy vRS - sometimes wont respond to the key presses to unlock/lock on the fob, tried a new battery as I thought of the obvious and also the master key to no avail. Everything else seems to work electrically. Any thoughts?

Also, itll lock the car every time, however unlocking seems a lottery. If a door is open and the unlock button is pressed itll click the relay and try to open the doors? Bizarre!

One of the mechanisms may have become sticky.

Hmm, it works great with the key though?

Has a mobile phone mast or simillar been put up near where you park recently, assuming it only does this in specific locations.

I dont believe so, I think its some sort of electrical fault.

HI

my car had the same fault, do the strip down and re solder the contacts in the door lock mechanism repair. search the forum and you will find a thread on how to do it.

Cheers

I still have this issue, doors wont unlock but will lock every time with the fob. When the drivers door is open and the interior light is on, pressing the unlock button makes a relay click sound and the interior light blinks briefly. The boot has to be unlocked manually...any thoughts?

Oh, the rear screen wash pipe isnt leaking near the CD changer.

Anyone? :(

Have you had the door lock apart and tested the micro switches and contacts inside, i would think the problem was in the switch contact for the lock side of the mechanism. the lock has a micro switch to tell it its locked and one to tell it its open, a fault in the lock micro switch is possibly telling the system the door is locked so no power gets to the motor to drive the lock to the lock position but the open system works.

its a pain of a job to strip down and fix, but the symptoms as just the same as the fault on my car, i have had to do it twice so far and both times it sorts it for a couple of years till the solder joints crack and go intermittent.

as a test does it lock if you bang on the door?

Have fun

Andy
