Electric window problem

Featured Replies

Hello,

I don't know whether the car is a Mk1 or 2 Skoda Octavia, but its an S reg (1999) and has a defective rear passenger electric window.

The mechanism went down and didn't come back up, so its been pushed up but won't stay shut. I suspect its come off its runner or something.

Does anyone have any pictures or a howto guide to dismantle the car's fascia so I can see what could be wrong?

Thanks,

John

Should just be a case of removing a few screws thats holding the door panel on just be careful to remove all screws, There are some poppers that hold the panel on as well. All you do is pull the door card outwards from the door and these will just pop out from the door.

It's a mk1 (pre-facelift).

Not that that actually matters much. If the window motor still works, the window's either jumped off the regulator or the regulator's failed (common issue). Either way you need to remove the door card to even find out which it is.

Most probably you have this problem Stahovaèka - Škoda Community - Diskusní fórum o vozech Škoda Auto (you need login for view pics)

by prefacelifts it is normal, you need new mechanismus, new runner not enought, because in your case, are the wire strand matted.

good luck i had i too at all doors by my old OI :(

My Czeck is almost non-existant, but that's what I meant about the regulator above.

This is where a wedge shape rubber door stop comes in handy, always keep one in my car.

Torx screws hold on around the perimeter of the door card. You will also need to pry off the cover from the door grab handle - it pushes directely on to the door handle main section and is held at the top and bottom. With this off you can see two large Philips head screws at each end of the handle which need to be removed as well. Lastly there is a small philips head screw that holds the door card which is in the araea where the door release lever is mounted. WIth all removed - pop the door card out at the bottom and then push it up to release it from the window edge. You will then be able to access the door release cable and disconnect this from the the door handle.

Torx bolts x 3 hold the regulator / mechansim to the door. When you lower the window mechanism you can see the two 10 mm clamps that grip the mechanism to the window glass.. The mechanism is normally the piece that fails on mark 1 octys
