Front arm balljoint

Featured Replies

Not had the car in the air to look whether I'm asking a stupid question or not, but is it possible to split the lower wishbone balljoint from the hub carrier 'in situ' without unbolting it from the arm? Can you loosen the nut and tap a wedge inbetween the balljoint taper and the hub carrier to split the joint? Wondered if this was possible to avoid disturbing the geometry when doing the powerflex/cupra bush upgrade.

undoing the balljoint from the wishbone doesn't cause any problems with the geo , as the holes are not slotted

but yes you can release the balljoint from the hub, iirc its on a taper with a nut on top , but the nut may foul the CV joint before it is removed fully
