Bonnet release mechanism is broken . . .

Featured Replies

Hi Peeps,

A daft problem - I went to check the oil level on my 2003 Fabia & couldn't open the bonnet. When pulling the lever by the driver's door, I could feel normal resistance & it sounded as though a cable was being moved, but the plastic lever didn't pop out of the grill.

How can I open the bonnet to check oil, top up windscreen washer etc? Once open I can then investigate the problem, but at the moment it is like catch 22.

Thanks,

Ray.

Daft as it sounds, sometimes the plastic lever gets stuck (mine does anyway) so all it needs if for you to pop the bonnet using the interior lever and afterwards jiggle the bonnet/grille and the release lever 'should' pop out.

Most likely due to the crap on the roads over winter casuing it to stick. When you get it open spray and work it a little with some WD40 or similar.
