Speed Warning

Featured Replies

On my MY06 4x4 1.9 I had the option (via maxidot) to set a maximum speed warning. This option is now missing on my new Scout - does anyone know if this feature can be turned on via VCDS (Vag-Com)?

If you have maxidot, it's still there. Remember some options need the door closed and seatbelt on show up

Oh no it's not...

All my Scout has is -

Under Setup -
      Convenience
      Lights & Vision
      Time
      Winter Tyres
      Language
      Units
      Factory Settings
      Display Off
      Back

Under Convenience -
      Rain Closing
      Door Open
      ATA Confirm
      Mirror Adjust
      Factory Settings
      Back

You don't need to go into the MaxiDOT menu system, you will find it between average MPG and Journey miles

I humbly stand here (hoping that the floor will open up and swallow me) and appologise for being such a [insert_suitable_adjective_here] and missing what was staring me in the face all the time :duh:

I will try better next time....

Between average MPG and distance I have average speed, not speed warning!!

Speed warning is ONLY a MaxiDot function and it is definitley there on my MaxiDot. I will look tomorrow its location in the menu, though I have not used it personally I have flicked past it.

its some where in the MFD as you scroll through avg MPG, ins MPG, average speed, trip distance

Oh, yes it is!

Speed Warning = Winter Tyres

Speed Warning = Winter Tyres

Speed Warning != Winter Tyres

There is two speed warning systems:

1. Winter Tyres - it is semi-permanent function, it is configurable only in the Setup of the MaxiDOT

Setting for winter tyre speed

Here you can set at which speed a warning signal should sound. These

functions are used for e.g on winter tyres with the permissible maximum

speed less than the maximum speed of the vehicle

2. Speed warning - in the trip computer readings, can be set up from 30 km/h in 5 km/h steps.

Warning against excessive speeds

This function enables you to set a speed limit, e.g. if you drive in town.

A text in the display is intended to draw your attention to the fact that

you have exceeded the set speed limit. The set speed limit remains

stored in the memory, also when the ignition is switched off and on;

it can only be erased by pressing the button (B) for more than 1 second.

I thought they (Speed Warning and Winter Tyres) were one and the same but they are not.

'Winter Tyres' have to be set through the MFD Menu but the Speed Warning is set through the regular MFD display as follows;-

1. Scroll through the normal MFD displays 'till you get to 'speed warning'

2. then press and hold the 'reset' button (on the underside of the stalk) until the display changes to a speed,

3. then use the scroll rocker to get the correct speed and

4. press the reset button again to set it; and finally

5. Use the scroll rocker to revert to range or whichever display you like to see as a 'default'.

Job done.:) When you then exceed the speed as set you get a 'ping' and the message of 'speed warning **mph exceeded'.

Hold down the down switch on the right and stork for over a second, go to setup and I believe the next option is display, in there you can display the differnent options that show in the MFD, there you can enable Speed Alert.

I thought they were one and the same but I think I have just remembered how to set 'speed warning'.

then press and hold the 'reset' button until the display changes to a speed,

then use the scroll rocker to get the correct speed and

press the reset button again to set it;

think. ;)

Is the reset the button under the stork? If so that resets the trip counter.

Is the reset the button under the stalk?
Yes.
If so that resets the trip counter.
Agreed; but not if you are in the Speed Warning part of the MFD display. If you are on any of the consumption/distance parts of the MFD display it will reset to zero.
