Octavia I 2001 Octavia VRS Clean up and modify project

Featured Replies

Brief background is i bought the car 3 weeks ago and plan to bring it back to better than showroom condition.

I am a full on Detailing Nut head so attention to the smallest of details will be taken and the car will be fully machine polished and better than how it left the showroom 8 years ago.

I have only been able to do a quick wash since owning the car due to our lovely weather but today was a better day so cracked on with getting the drivers side interior sorted.

When i bought the car it was obvious that many hours would need to be spend so i intend to tackle a particular area each weekend.

Today was fitting my new mats and stainless clutch rest plate and also 1st attempt at cleaning the gorgeous white/silver carpet as it was really really dirty.

I decided to replace my mats with non genuine ones as i didn't want to pay the stupid charge at Skoda for them to simply wear out again so i went here to buy them MATS

They were really helpful and after the wrong mats were sent out to start with i returned them for them to be replaced and i also altered my order from grey mats to black and they had no problem with the change and i can highly recommend them.

I did a little modification to them which was to line up and cut circles in them so i could fit the locator/retainer rings off the original mats to keep an OEM look in the car. This worked really well and they look fantastic.

Anyway some pics here now if you haven't fell asleep by now:

Those are the same mats I have. It annoys me that they don't have the retaining rings. Was it easy to put some in?

Yes if you have the original mats to mark out the rings and the original rings help too :)

Good work! If you dont mind me asking where did you get the stainless clutch plate rest? did you have to mod it much to fit? thanks.
