pd100 Strength??

Featured Replies

Hey guys! New to this site and new to the skoda tuning world so im after a bit of advice.

Drive a pd100 Fabia which has had a 140bhp remap for the past year or so and cant fault it. The only problem is I'm starting to get a lust for more power!

The question is how much power/torque can the standard pd100 internals and gearbox withstand? Im not really "abusive" with my driving and wouldn't be after more than 170-180bhp, obviously with an uprated clutch.

I've trawled the internet but cant seem to get a definate answer. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance! :)

Buy a vRS and go from there :)

lol, but I don't want a vRS...:P

Simple answer is, "It will be fine"

I have seen an Allard tweaked pd100 pushing close to 200bhp. All you need is pd130 injectors, a very good turbo, and a good intercooler. To match the power, you will almost certainly need bigger brakes (and therefore wheels if you still run 14") and the clutch. I would also recommend better suspension.

I only went vRS conversion route due to wanting very serious power, plus I wanted the fun & challenge of a never undertaken before conversion.

How much money/effort would you have saved if you'd just bought a vRS?

The thing is I wanted to do it. I could have raised an extra £6,000 - sold my car and bought a vRS - In 2004 they were still fetching big money though. So instead I spent about £3k on the conversion package and another £3k on performance bits. Obviously since then I have spent more on various bits. But as someone who really likes to push the boundaries, there was no real choice between the mongrel, and a true fabia vRS. :)

Hi there,

Quick question really, what's the PD100 like with the remap? Don't think I'll go down the 'big power' route till I get a vRS in 18 month's time, but a bit more poke never goes wrong :P

Cheers,

Andrew

The remap in mine has been dynoed at 140bhp with 235lb/ft, so its slightly up on a standard vRS. Performance wise it pulls like a train in all gears where as before 4th and 5th didnt have much shove, and 0-60 is coming up in 8.1secs. All in all its a lot nicer to drive and getting around 5mpg more than when she was standard.

Admittedly, she did smoke a bit but a pd160 intake and green filter cured that and she seems to rev out a bit more freely now as well! :)

Would seriously recommend it as it feels like a totally different car!
