Deeeeeep red shine wanted!!

Featured Replies

Hi all, new (proud) red Furby Vrs owner :)

Just picked her up and she's really clean but want to add a deep rich shine. Been searching for tips so two buckets, a wash mitt and a waffle cloth is on the shopping list

I have in the garage

Halfords car shampoo

and

Autoglym Super Resin Polish

and

Meguires NXT Tech Wax

Are these okay for a beginner or would I be wasting my time? Do they complement one another or do the same job?

Funds a bit tight after buying her so it'll be handy if I can use what I already have. Saying that I'd rather start off with the right stuff

Cheers

get some gold class shampoo as well as a waffle drieng towel buy the best get the best results

polish wise you can get the ultra deep shine auto glym but a good wash and wax will do the trick..

the best thing to do is pm baker21 he is the man to speak to  or just get him to do a detail on it and the result will blow you away just take alook at some of his work

serious question.. why does none anywhere use t-cut???

is it really that bad?

simple answer YES

It's quite abrasive, so unless the paint is very badly oxidized it can do more harm than good.

On modern paint, it is Satan himself!

Simple fact is, (with detailing at least), times change, and new advancements generally work better with less effort or scope for damage.

Hey mate, have a look here http://briskoda.net/styling-car-care/red-vrs-6-hours-later/140688/ this is mine i did at the weekend has a small list of products used on a red vrs

 If I get mine looking like that I'll be a happy man

Thanks all .

Think I'll add some quality shampoo to the list as well. Paints not too bad (to my eyes) so I'll try with the AG super resin first, seems to be repected on here.

AG Super Resin contains fillers which masks the true condition of the paint. Give it a good polish and top it off with a good wax. If you want eye-popping results get your hands on this Meguiars Dual Action Polisher G220

Rather than using a polish with fillers it might well be using something like scratchX over the whole car (a huge effort) then using a couple of coats of SRP.

Once you've done that I'd put on a layer of AutoGlym EGP and then a layer of a good hard wax. To make it last a long time then you could pick something like collinite 915 or 476s, or for a deeper wetter look you could use something from the dodo range or vics concourse etc.

Try AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine, it was great on my old red Octy vRS, its far better than the resin one on reds.

See, I found it the other way around and all my red cars have looked better with SRP over UDS!

My Red Octavia I bought some Clearkote Red Moose Glaze and really looked good. Also I was using Poorboy Natty Blue wax and was very impressed, but got to bottom of pot and bought some KF1000P sealant and cant stop looking at my car every time I get in and out!

Is the car brand new then mate or second hand?

Your best bet would be to get yourself a kit that will allow you to wash and protect the paintwork safely and I completed a recent GB on here but apprciate you said funds are not vast:

http://briskoda.net/group-buys-promotions/baker21-detailing-kit-gb-begins/136474/

The key things you need are the 2 buckets, lambswool wash mitt and drying towel for the paintwork...........

Second hand (54 plate) but new for me. She's in pretty good order but I've realised after looking on here and detailing world how good some cars look.

I don't want or need concours class but a good finish sets a car apart I think.

Going to buy the basics but seriously considering asking a professional to detail the car properly from the outset and set me on the right road. (once I've saved enough)

ps It's probably obvious but what's a GB?

GB = Group Buy............:thumbup:
