light flicker on fabia

Featured Replies

hi my daughter has just purchased a fabia which she loves but the power steering light has just started to come on occasionally but with no apparent loss to the steering also the lights all round flicker which is annoying and there is a woop woop noise coming from under the bonnet on the near side has anyone got any idea what this may be??????

It can be one of several things. Have the battery tested, the PAS pump can draw as much as 60 AMPS, and if the battery is old, not enough current for PAS to work properly. The alternator needs to be checked as well as the alternator wiring.

Worth having the car scanned for fault codes, as it could also be the steering sensor, or even the PAS Pump itself.

The car headlights do flicker a little, even when the system is working properly, but the PAS warning light shouldn't come on while driving.

As above, but check the tension of the auxilliary drive belt before looking at the battery, alternator, PAS pump and sensors.
