cheers mate at least i'm not the only one and i know where the problem is.

rear wiper leaking is fairly common on these. i had 3 goes putting trim back on with someone helping me. ended up kneeling in the boot to put the clips on by the glass, while mate took weigh of the cover and then pushed 'lugs' back into place.

Is it definitely leaking at the tailgate? Just it's also common for the joint in the LH arch, under the CD stacker, to come apart.

its definately in the tailgate coz the strap is wet and it drips when i open the door

Yep, that is washer jet hose. A lot of these become loose over the winter period when the washer system freezes up and folks keep trying to use the rear washer. This puts pressure through the pipe and eventully the pipe will pop off.

cheers bowders do u happen to know if i need to buy any new part or is it just a case of putting the hose back into place.

Should be ok with just popping the hose back on. Easy job. I would also fit a cable tie round it and just to be sure, as even recently new ones still pop off.

It is very common for the pipe to blow off behind the tailgate cover. You may need to clean the washer jet out or it will just blow off again. Also make sure if it does start to block again clean it out before it blocks completely or you will have to take that damn tailgate cover off again!!

Hi guys,

I have the Mk 1 Octavia vRS and have had the usual problem of the rear washer giving up but managed to fix it myself by taking off the hatch trim. Second time involved the pipe behind the CD changer in the boot, which had detached (not sure why the pipe would be down there but hey!...)

This time the jet is not working. The pipe behind the CD changer is connected but when I take off the carpet on the left above the cd changer, water squirts out of the welded metal work. Its almost as if there is a pipe running from the roof of the car on the passenger side and in to the boot from there.

Does anybody know the route that the rear washer pipe actually takes, before I have to start removing trim from the rear seats, etc.?

Thanks

Stu.

i took the trim off and it was the pipe tha came loose. very easy job to put right and the trim wasn't to hard to get back on in this case so it is a job i'm glad is out of the way now.
