start up high revs

Featured Replies

i know this topic has probably been covered before but can anyone tell me why when i start my vrs from cold it revs to 1200-1300rpm.after a short while it settles don to the normal 7-800rpm.is there anything wrong and if so what...thanks

Secondary air pump runs at start up and during this running period it revs higher. Perfectly normal mate, everyones does it ;)

Just wait until it settles down to 800 revs before you drive away, otherwise it will tend to kangaroo

Mine doesn't do this yet so many do. Weird how these engines have such different behaviour from one to the next.

mine only started doing it 2 or so months ago and i've had it for a year and a half so i thought it was a problem.

Maybe its to do with fuel?? i put cheap shell regular fuel in mine instead of v power because it was out and mine has started doing a strange rev everytime i come to a stop, its like im touching the throttle pedal... also it has felt lumpier recently, only thing i can think ive done is put the lower octane fuel in.

The pump is for cold start ups to help get the engine warmed up. It is the possibility that the people who don't have it that your pumps may have failed, but it would come up as a EML.

Anybody with a turbo OUGHT to be kind enough to allow it to idle for at least 30 seconds before even touching the throttle anyway, let alone driving away.
