Anyone done this? It seems a lot cheaper to get HUs from the USA but could I be letting myself in for some problems? I'm a bit worried about saving muchos

Never brought a HU from the US, but If you do import one customs will hammer you for 17.5% VAT. Not sure what happens if you pay US taxes though.

The only problems I could see is the radio. Would it work?

IIRC the radio won't work too well, but I can't remember why exactly...it's frequency related.

You shouldn't pay any US taxes, but Customs will want 17.5% VAT and also duty on the item...

The frequency step on AM and FM in the states is different from here so you wont be able to listen to some stations, also there will be no RDS function even though the same HU over here might have it.

Yep don't bother with stuff from the States. You'll get NO product support or warranty anywhere in Europe. Frequency steps are all wrong as already said. No RDS. If its delivered by someone like Fedex you WILL have to pay import. And if it does go wrong you won't get people in the UK to repair it. Also what happens if you buy it, plug it in and it doesn't work ? Damaged in transit ?

I heavily advise against it !!
