Grill Painting

Featured Replies

I have sanded down and put two layers or primer on the chrome grill.

Do I have to sand down the primer and then use the paint or just paint???

I think you give the primer a light sand with something like 1200 grit. Helps the paint stick to it.

you do indeedily key the primer too :D What colour u paintin it?

p.s... dont forget to do in between each layer of paint too!

turned out pretty damn good :D Infact the grille is the bit I've not had to re-do. Had to re-do all the side trim and back bump strip coz it came out rubbish after 1st attempt. Roll on my purple skoda badges to complete the look

what is it with Purpule??? lol

One thing I have lernt is that you need to use a good laquar (spelling) and give it loads of coats. Mine looks like **** now the gritters have got to it. :(

I've just put the 2nd and last layer of paint on.

How long do I have to wait to put the lacquer on.

Yep

If im painting my grill black, can I use hammerite smooth? and will I still need laquer?

Tryed finding a guide with no luck, so I may make one as I do mine.

Also, do you use matt or gloss paint?

Edit: Do halfrauds do 1200 grit paper?

Dont forget to keep re-laquering while it is still tacky dont let it dry!
