Engine no power

Featured Replies

I bought a Fabia 1.9 SDI Classic,2001(Y) 99,000 miles

On the way home, I had a general loss of power especially going up hill ,not picking up in 1/2/3 gears.

Also engine got noisy.

Manage to go slow back to the garage, the engine was quite.

The salesman said it was ok when it left here one hour ago

Could someone advise Thankyou

What sort of noise? Any warning lights? have you checked the oil and coolant?

Probably best to plug it into VAG com and see if any fault codes are stored.

Unplug your air mass meter and see if it changes.

had my local garage finally sort the problem.

1 they confirmed no new clutch fitted.

2 New fuel filter,air filters.

3 opened fuel tank filler cap

4 Fish & Chip smell

5 emptied tank, home made bio diesel.

6 phoned car sales where i had it from.because I had another garage sort the problem out

my warranty is void, put the phone down.

the skoda is fine and a credit my local garage.(21 Ltrs of home made bio diesel-need a home)

i don't understand..... so your saying you broke the car by putting chip oil in it ???

It reads more to me like person or persons unknown filled the car up with old chip oil before delivery, and the vendor is refusing to honour the warranty because another garage was used to diagnose and correct this.

SDis generally have no power anyway....;)

(my wife's is ever so slooooow compared to my pd140)

Seriously though the OP should contact Trading Standards and take a read of this:

Used cars - consumer rights

You do have the right to take the car back for a refund if you are not happy. A warrantee is in addition to your consumer rights, not instead of.

Veg oil was already in the car when I bought it,local garage that did the repair had the contents tested 2% Turpintine 3% white Spririt 95% veg oil I have got to pay a futher £72 to have it disposed of.

trading standards are on the case.

So they should be any decent vendor would have been aware of the car not running properly on the stuff. I am surprised you didn;t notice the deep fat fryer smell as you are driving along. By selling a car full of unsuitable fuel, I would argue that they sold a vehicle that is not fit for purpose.
