V-maxx Coilovers on VRS?? anyone?

Featured Replies

Am trying to find some new shocks and springs for my 02 vrs, my local shop can get me v-maxx coilovers for a fairly reasonable price, just wondered if anyone had any experience with them.

i've also been looking for some weitec coilovers or even koni fsd's, the v-maxx seem to be slightly cheaper, and i've been struggling to find any weitecs. anyone want to offer some advice? or even where i can get said shocks.

cheers

Hi There, where have you been looking... These are in a number of tuning and performance shops.

This subject covered many times on this site. Try this thread for starters.

Here is a link to one shop that is very competative pricing.

Venom Motorsport Performance Car Parts - EBC Brakes, Black Diamond Brakes, FK Suspension, Eibach Suspension, Weitec Suspension, Supersport Suspension

And the Weitec version for the VRS.

You will not get many folks on here that have tested the V-Maxx and typically coilovers that are recomended are Weitec, KW V1's or KW V3's.

If coilovers are not for you then Koni's FSD's with H&R springs are the favorite option. Coilovers are generally harsher ride than the Koni's unless you are used to these.

ok, been doing some trawling over various forums and have read mixed reviews on the v maxx coilovers.

moved my search onto some weitec coilovers, can't for the life of me find anywhere that stocks them for a vrs? all i can find is ones that are listed not suitable for vrs. this is really doing my head in now!!! can somebody please put me in the right direction before i self destruct!!!:orb_angry

thanks

Read above........ Must of just posted it as you posted.

P.S you will not see weitecs advertised for VRS but the ones I put in the link are the right ones for the VRS. You will also notice AP, KW's part number is very simliar to Weitec for the Octavia, that is because they are made in the same factory.

nice one cheers mate, looked at them ones earlier, didn't know if they were suitable for the vrs ones though, everywhere else i've been looking for stuff keeps coming up not suitable for use where the arb link goes directly to the strut. is this the case with these ones or do they have the bracket for the link on the strut??

GO weitec mate.

the KW are too much for the same item. and the AP are ok but tere is one lad on here not happy with his lol.

I got weitec and they are ace. been on nearly year now and no trouble so far, Ive just lifted mine a bit to give her more clearance.

The Weitecs, AP and KW's all come with the bracket attached needed for the ARB links. They just don't get used on the none VRS applications. Trust me they are the ones.

Here is a pic of mine fitted with the ARB link attached.

you wont regret them,

Hi, I have V-Maxx on my 02 Octy VRS. Cost me £500 fitted at a local VAG place. I'm on a budget so went for these because of the price. They have been on for about 8 months now and all seems fine and the car is pretty low. Hope this helps.

I've been reading alot about AP coilovers lately. They sound pretty good value and good quality. Might be worth having a look at Awesome GTI for those

If you have then you will have read a number of threads on here that do not rate them. However that was fitted to a VRS which sits lower than a standard Octaiva or a 1.8T 4x4.

V-Maxx are a favorite with Golfs so can't be too bad. Another new comer is FK suspension. Interesting to see any read up on those.

Monkey Boy reported his old vRS was riding on its bump stops when he had the AP's. This resulted in the ride being bouncy.

I have v-maxx coilovers on mine and think there fine for the money
