Superb lowering/styling

Featured Replies

Hi all, I may be swapping my mk1 octavia for a mk1 superb soon. I'm interested in making modifications to the superb to enhance it's understated look.

I've seen lowering springs for the superb mk1, but I'm also told it has a rather more complex suspension set up to a "standard" car and lowering it won't be as easy as whacking some new springs and shocks on. Is this the case?

If anyone has some pictures of modified superbs for insperation i'd be greatful. I'm thinking low, big wheels and tints... (Drug dealer styley!!!) Yeah it's been over done on every car imaginable, so any other suggestions welcome!

Thanks

Look in the blog at baker21s car of the month story, nice and low.

Non-standard suspension system? Looked pretty standard to me, but the issue is that the Superb is a big heavy car so it's not just a case of chucking some Spax springs on it like it is with some small cars.

Baker's is on coilovers - and is testimony as to what can be achieved.

Thanks JB for the comment.............:D

I would be carfeul if you just want to drop some springs onto the Superb as IMHO this will create a bouncy ride but Bluefox should be able to add something to this as that is what he did?

Coilovers or Air is the way forward IMHO.............

Yeah, I did. Vast improvement on the handling, slightly firmer but just as comfy. Handled like she should have done out the factory.

I would emphasise however you should use quality springs - I had KW, and I know Eibach work well (KW were -40mm Eibach are -30mm, hence why I went for KW) - you just can't use cheap springs on a car like this.

yeah eibach's just arn't quite low enough really, think coil overs might be on the cards towards the back end of the year.
