QD Query whilst drying

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have read many posts on DW etc about using a Quick Detailer product during the drying process to help boost shine of your wax and aid drying, I'm currently using Colly 915 as my wax but was wondering at what stage and how is the best method to use the QD? If I've washed the car / foamed and rinsed do I then whizz round and spray a layer of QD and simply lay a MF towel over the top or do I work the QD into the paint somehow?

Thanks for the advice, John :)

basically once uve washed the car, sheet off the beading with an open hose then just spray QD all over and dry with a microfibre towel. Makes life sooo much easier.

Thanks Bunglebear Im looking forward to giving it a bash, im interested to see if it adds anything to the shine / look of the wax.

am glad you have asked this, as i have just bought some last touch and wondered the same, so thanks for that

should we be patting dry, or is that just too OTT :)

Definately pat dry! After going to all the effort I'd be seriously pi$$ed if I managed to scratch the car with the towel

Would a Waffle weave towel be better to pat dry with?

that is what is recomended for drying, or i believe some even use a petrol blower type machine (leaf type blower), am sure i've seen that said somwhere before... anyone else heard that

I do the same as Bunglebear - helps the water run off the car too, once the Last Touch is on there. QD will work in a similar way. Rinse car down with a hose under normal pressure, spray round with LT then dry the car with a Meg's Water Magnet towel or other high absorbancy equivalent....

I've used a leaf blower type machine a couple of times before, but only on full details and to get rid of water from the door shuts etc - not really across the whole car :)

As others have said, once the car has been washed and rinsed you just need to spray on some Megs Last Touch (for example) all over the wet paintwork and dry off as normal...........

This will prevent streaking when drying but will also be dependant on the water in your area..........:D

You don't need to 'pat' your car dry if you have a 'Waffle Weave Drying Towel' for example, just run it around the paintwork and if you have prepped the paintwork correctly then your won't add any scratches..............

Ive heard bad reports about the megs water magnet. apparently after a few washes it becomes quite hard. I bought a waffle weave towel from cleanyourcar.co.uk and it works wonders. I dont have to ring it out at all. infact, i reckon it could probably dry another two or three cars. Definetly worth a tenner!!

Never had a problem with my Water Magnet; I bung it in the washing machine after each use with my washmitt and it's still going strong 6yrs after purchase :)

I think it's fair to say there are now equally good offerings from other companies now though.
