My fun afternoon modding...

Featured Replies

Been itching to do something with the motor for a while now and since I've got a couple of weeks off work I thought I'd take a stab at tinting my rear lights!! It's suprisingly easy and really cheap! (Got me £10 for two cans of tinting spray off eBay) and I only used half a can!

Took about 2 hours as you've gotta masking tape it all up (I'm a bit of a geek so I even cut the corners correctly!) then applying thin layer after thin layer after thin layer with brief drying periods in between.

Here's it in various stages of develop...

Opinions? Not dark enough? Two Dark? Bad idea? Good idea? Sum1 will surely mention MOTs?

I like the idea, but personally I wouldn't have gone quite so dark. I would have put one or two thin layers on the white bit too, to grey it out a little bit.

Personally (No offence) I hate it :(, dont think i have ever seen a set of rear lights that have been tinted with dark tint spray look good!

I think it looks cheap and chav and reminds me of boy racers, but hey thats what modding is all about, if you like it nothing else matters

No offence caused to anyone, its just my OWN opininon. :D

I think you would have been better off cleaning your car TBH.

And you will stand a better chance of getting rear ended in

the fog with lights like that. Sorry just my opinion.....

Been there, done that... but to the other part of the lights (the indicator and the reverse).

Two things:

1. it certainly is easier (and faster) to remove the lights from the car, than to mask up everything around them;

2. apply a layer (ideally two or three) of clear coat on top of the tinting spray, otherwise it will be all gone in a month.

My lights are good over a year since I did them with that technology.

The outcome is not bad at all, but a little too dark for my liking. :)

I wonder if anyone has tried tinting Lexus lights?

I like it!

Aren't you risking being run up the rear end with darkened lenses like that? Sorry but this is the silliest and potentially most dangerous mod I have seen next to over tinted windows.
