Octavia CR seats

Have skoda improved the seats in the face-lift model???

In the pre facelift modells with the interior changes and the new mirrors, they havent (yet). How it will be in the post May facelift modells, I dont know. (concerning the RS)

What they did do, they already changed the headrests.

If they put the same style of seating as in the superb it would be heaven, after spending 9 months still trying to get comfortable after having to be in the car for 16 hours a day sometimes

Skippy I spend a mere 4h/day in my VRS, what do you suffer from yours?

What's wrong with them? Mine are fine.

No lumber support, the seat base is to high at the front and cannot be lowered, and after long spells its like sitting on concrete

You need electric seats - they adjust for height, front and back of the squab go up and down independently, lumbar support moves in and out and up and down - wonder if they can be retrofitted? Assume you'd need new runners (they appear to work on a screw thread priniciple for fore-and-aft motion) but I would have thought the fixing points were the same.

But I believe the electric heating and memory functions only come with Maxidot.

I had the same problems with my old Mk2 Elegance, I could never get comfortable and the outer base bolster dug into my thigh.

My L&K has the electric drivers seat which can adjust the overall height of the seat AND the height of the base front. It makes a massive difference to the comfort levels. The lumbar is also electrically adjustable in/out and up/down.

I apologise if I appear to be 'rubbing it in' but it proves that Skoda CAN make a comfortable seat.

I heard that the seats have been revised in the face lift model with anti whiplash head restraints either standard across most of the range or standard on all models and general improvements to the seats in general.

I was standing next to facelift Octy in a dealership about 2 hours ago. Should have jumped in it

You beat me to it  1 minute.

I think cars with 'leccy seats come with maxidot anyway. The dipping reversing mirror is only possible with the memory seat too.

That's my only real gripe about the car too - I'm not exactly fat, but the sides of the seat dig into my thighs, and I get back ache driving the car no matter how I adjust the seat. It seems to me that the front of the seat cushion tapers up too high. Maybe it's more of a problem for taller drivers (I'm 6ft 3).

Same here, 6' 3" tall and the non electrically adjustable seats are a real pain. Too narrow as you say. Maybe we need cars designed for fat, wide yanks rather than svelte Czechs?

Dear Hemel Man,

If it's any comfort I am indeed fat and at the beginning was worried about the narrowwness of the seats and problems such as yours - would I have to give up the car?

But, the good news is - they adapt to your shape over the first few months (OK, you squash them into shape). But they do become more comfortable and are now great over long runs.

Mind, you, having the electric seats helps - you can play around with the settings to alter the pressure points during a drive.
