What a turn up

Featured Replies

Having wept with joy at Jenson's (and Brawn GP's) fantastic triumph in Melbourne, I went to meet a friend in one of the most sought after Coln Valley (Cotswolds) villages to walk the dogs.

Picture a small village green with just 4 cars parked in various spots around it.

3 were estate cars (this is the countryside), 1 was a hatch.

All 4 were MkII Octavias (although one was a facelift MkII - my friend's: an L & K delivered on Friday). I almost took a photo. This is Audi A6/Range Rover/Discovery MkIII country.

Question: are Skodas becoming common?

the dill

I my area in rural Perthshire almost every third car you see on the the road is a Skoda. They are mainy Fabia's and many of them are 51--02 plate and they are standing up very well. There are also quite a few Mk1 and Mk2 Octy's although I have yet to see a facelift Octy on the road. I think a lot of their success around here is fact that a lot of the population are semi or fuly retired and they seem to buy the basic spec Skoda just for pootling around in. Also the local dealership is well respected in the area and does a fair amount of business.

I have owned 2 skodas over the last 4 yrs ,my neighbour 2 doors away has bought a mk2 octi diesel about 2 weeks ago,his son who lives in london has just bought a fabia2 ,neighbour on other side is about to collect a fabia next week .And our new next door neighbour (rented house) is thinking of buying a skoda.

Thinking of getting rid of mine as they are too popular!!

People are catching on ! The Skoda Octy2 is just very good buy

Not seen any facelifts on the road either

come to think of it its almost April and I have only seen ONE 09 plate car

you used to see tons

its those dreaded words " Credit Crunch "
