eBay Motors: VW Golf Jetta Beetle 1.8T Audi TT Turbo Air Intake Pipe (item 390039375820 end time Apr-02-09 13:21:24 PDT)

this is on ebay and I am lookin at gettin one. I have looked on the car and its a tight fit for the one thats on now. there is a large pipe directly behind so I think it will be hard to get a bigger one on.

I think it is like the Neuspeed one?

I want one like this as I dont want to have to move all the pipes connected to the std top bit.

billy

What do you mean you don't want to move all the pipes?

Did you mean disconnect and reconnect?

yea. and I would prefer the metal bit to stay metal. also I dont want the silicon pipe on the turbo for heat reasons and the fact its only held there with a jubilee clip lol

billy

Trust me they are fine if fitted properly after all there is no pressure on them as they are only an inlet before the turbo. There was a neuspeed one on Ebay a couple of days ago.

im confused lol

this item is a straight swap the only difference is the bend at the bttom is wider giving an increase in flow rate it fits the same way as the original..

what do you mean about jubilee clips???

lol its the reason I want this one or sim as it is a straight swap.

if you go for the Autobahn 88 one or the Forge you need to take all the pipes off the std on and re-attach, and the connection to the turbo is just pushed on and secured with a jubilee clip

billy

I have the Neuspeed one, fairly easy to fit and my car was mapped with this and other bits done... Quite a bit bigger than the OE one..

Similar one is the ABD pipe

Phil

yep silicone one have been known to pop off..

i run the abd one at the moment really easy to fit you just cant have a nice silicone pipe at the back ( soon you can icon;)) as all the company make the complete pipe to do away with the tip itself ....

soon to change ;):thumbup::D

I run a forge silicone TIP and have been for nearly a year with no problems whatsoever. Taking all the pipes off the top and putting them back was the easy part. Tricky part was getting to the bolt holding the stock one onto the turbo, you need an arm with at least 2 more elbows to get at it

ok mate you confused me now lol.

do you need a ramp to fit the TIP?

were is a good place to get any of them from? not the silicone ones though as I had the Autobahn 88 one and it looked a ball ache to fit.

did you do it all from the top?

The DV makes a more pronouned sound on mine due to the Carbonio cold air intake. The TIP made a difference to the turbo noise, you can hear it whistle up quite a bit more. When I installed it, it was a combination of working from above and below.

cheers mate,

mine is nice like she is, not quite a noisy as urs, just I would like a bit more aire thru the turbo.

also urs is noisier as u got the relocation kit so the air is denser and cooler?????? lol

jus wait till you get her remapped mate, and the zorst on there.

will sound sweeeeeeet then.

billy

Don't think the relocation kit make much difference tbh, main reason I got it was to stop the noise of the dv rattling against the strut brace! But it then created a new rattle as it was knocking against the bonnet support, which then gave me an excuse to get bonnet lifters :D

Haha - exactly the reason I bought my DV relocation kit!

I got the Autobahn 88 too, not too bad to fit.

Be carefull Billy buying that TIP off ebay. I bought one & it didn't fit. The ID of the hole on the TIP that connects onto the sleeve on the turbo was too small. I don't know if it was the same seller, but I got my money back & bought a forge TIP.

Oz.

cheers Oz,

was wonderin that. its for the K03, is the K03 the same size as the K03s????????????

Billy, I also have the autobahn88 TIP. It is not to bad to fit really. I did it with just trolley jack and axle stands. The time consuming part by far is taking off the old unit as it is bolted on. Only able to do a few turns at time due to space, and then fitting the new one takes a little time to wiggle it and get it over the turbo flange. A few bruised knuckles later and it was on. A TIP(not TIP:rofl:) is to cut the autobahn 88 hose(turbo side) back a little as I found it too long and made it very difficult fitting around the water pipe.

Looks nice on though.

thats the large pipe at the back to the TIP?

i cant even get my fingers in between it and the metal. thats y i cant see the neuspeed beein a direct fit. there is a reason the std one is thin like it si?????

billy

cheers guys
