Brake pedal question. Help please.

Featured Replies

Help please everyone.

When I am stationary with the engine running, I can push the brake pedal down 2/3rds of the way to the floor if I press firmly, but using the brakes normally to slow the car, they seem to work perfectly. The brakes start to bite with only a very slight squeeze. If the engine is off, the pedal can be pumped firm and will stay firm for a long time.

I don't think anything is wrong, I'm just interested to know if all Fabia brake pedals can be pushed down this low.

Please have a go at this next time you are in the car and post back your findings.

im lost, going to re-read tommorow morning when im not so tired! :)

Sorry I'll try again using English!

How far can you push your brake pedal down when engine is running?

Don't know why I didn't write that in the first place!

All the way to the floor when the engines on! Or at least I could before fitting the 312mm's. Haven't tried since then.

This is normal with diesel engines due to the way the vacuum is applied to the servo by a mechanical pump. Pedal will stop about 1" from the floor.

Edit: Should add it's normal at idle. Brakes behave normally once on the move.
