Warning for those in NE: New Truvelo camera site

Featured Replies

On my way to work this morning, I spotted a Truvelo on the Northbound stretch of the A167 (Durham Road) in the Birtley area. Considering I pass this place quite frequently, its amazing how quickly they've got it up. The limit is a 30, and the location is around 600 yards north of the main crossroads (station lane junction), near the Fire Station.

Watch out, because it very nearly caught me unaware! [although I think its not live yet].

Don't travel on that road reguarly, but I know where you mean.

There's also a new Truvelo on the sea front at Seaburn so i'm told.

And a new Gatso on the A689 heading into Hartlepool where it drops to a 40mph limit after the traffic lights. The justification for this camera is because a couple of people have been knocked down & killed recently......The fact that they were too bloody lazy to use the crossings provided has nothing to do with it...

Yeah I know what you mean mate, they are going to put up a static camera on Stamfordham Road (A167/B6324) in Newcastle because a joy rider mowed down a child. The driver had no licence, insurance or tax, so how exactly is a speed camera going to help there? It really is a joke

Joyriders ALWAYS slow down for cameras, didn't you know ?

They're terrified of getting points on a licence they don't have, and getting fines which they'll never pay. Never heard of the word "deterrent" ???

:)
