What to look for?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I currently own a Mk1.5 1.6 Zetec Focus Estate that I am looking to replace with something a little quicker with more toys. I am looking for a newer petrol version or an alternative petrol estate. The Octavia looks quite interesting, but I am looking for some info on things to look for, good and bad. Also I am in Leicester, are there any good dealers (to buy from ) within 30-50 miles and is there a good independent garage for servicing etc locally?

cheers

Rich

apologies if this should be in the Octavia forum...

Depends on how much you have to spend but the 122 BHP 1.4 TSI Octavia S estate at around £13K new does look like excellent value and is What Car's best midrange estate. Supposed to be a nice little engine. I'd probably pay the extra grand and buy the SE though. Alternatively a pre facelift 1.9 or 2.0 TDI is a decent bet or, if you can stretch a VRS. Let us know your budget and I am sure there will be loads chipping in there two penny worth:thumbup:

oops, I did leave a few bits out didn't I.

Looking to spend no more than £12000. Have to have petrol as my daily commute is rough 3 miles each way. Doesn't need to be new, but not more than 24 months old.

Cheers

Rich

Should be able to get a decent petrol VRS estate for that (the engine is a cracker) or find that extra grand and get a brand new 1.4 TSI S or maybe an ex demo 1.4 SE version of the new Octavia. In any case you have plenty of choice. Get down your local dealer and have a look around. I would prefer the Diesels to the 1.6 FSI engine though as I drove one of those in a saloon and it was absolutely gutless:thumbup: Might be able to find a 2.0 FSI estate but I hve not seen many of this version of the Octy.

P.S I've just done a google search and found a black Octy VRS TFSI estate on an 07with 12K for £10,745 at Robbins and Day Peugeot in Croydon. A bt of a schlep for you but it proves one of these fine cars are within your budget! Happy hunting.
