proud of myself!

Featured Replies

On wednesday i spent the whole day cleaning and polishing my octavia and it was looking fantastic. A guy who lives a couple of doors down said to my next door neighbour, loud enough for me to hear "I don't understand it, clean it, polish it, at the end of the day it's still a skoda" and then proceeded to tell a couple of OLD Skoda jokes.

Guess what he drives....an L reg peugeot Estate! I didn't say anything which took some restraint i can tell you. I think he was just being a smartarse

Is it possible that people are still that ignorant? Maybe we need to up the pr campaign.:D

Some people are just ignorant.... that will never change!

Thats the best thing about owning a Skoda, the comments from ignorant people, personally I think it's a good thing as it keep the insurance down as they are much less desirable to steal

At the end of the day day you know you've got a good car which is so much better than his - and he's an ignorant t-o-s-s-e-r - don't let it get you down

When I passed my test last year and looking around for my first car I was looking at Vauxhalls, Renaults, Citreons, etc. Then my dad said why not a Skoda, he went on to say that they are very good cars, so I bought one, didn't regret it. Having my first car for 1 year today (04/04/08) I would pick a Skoda over any other mainstream manufacturer (even tho mine is having problems, I would be getting another Skoda).

I think people do it because they know it winds Skoda owners up. I used to feel that I had to justify why I'd bought a Skoda but I don't care now. And I now own two! Both in Black Magic with Xenons (Fab and Octy) and I do feel a bit sad for having big brother and little brother sat on the drive lol.

Thinking about it i suppose i'm just as guilty i suppose. I wouldn't even consider a french car as the evidence i have heard from others, and when i have been in french cars they don't seem very well made. Now this I know is a sweeping generalisation which can't be correct as they sell millions of units. that said i still wouldn't buy one.

I also own a VW passat which has been a brilliant family workhorse in the 6 or so years i have owned it. The build quality has been brilliant apart from..what was it now...oh yeah i remember WATER ****ING THROUGH ALL OVER THE PLACE. causeing more electrical issues than i would care to mention. So there you go German build qulity for you.

Are you sure it wasn't just jealousy? ;)

my response to anyone who starts diggin up the old skoda jokes is " come back when ya know what your talkin about" lol

when people ask me what car i'm getting next they just have a face of dissaprovel and say something like 'but its a skoda, why?' i just say exaclty, want to give them a reason but there not worthy of a responce:rolleyes:

the fabia vrs best be good

Bit difficult when the person concerned is SWMBO - it's one occasion when I'm afraid the O word doesn't operate - I buy what I want

I get laughed at repeatedly by a mate for my Skoda (he has a 3clyinder Corsa so heknows what hes on about!). Anyway, found a private bit of road today and let him have ago and the mocking stopped almost instantly. Actaully preferred it to drive to his own car!

Just shows people judge books by thier cover way to much rather than reading them first.

i had a 3 cylinder 1 litre corsa and it was actually very torquey, good on fuel and went well not to mention handled pretty well too. mine was brand new though.

A few people down my road take the pi5s out of our "5hitty Skodas" but I dont really care as they drive rust buckets themselves.

On French cars: I had a 2001 Citroen Xantia 1.8 16v and I absolutely loved it, they aren't all bad, apart from Peugeots and Renaults of course :P
