Cobra Parking Sensors

Has anyone fitted a set of the above?

I bought a set off Ebay, brand new boxed, fitted them today and they don't seem to be working. I get a couple of beeps when I select reverse, then nothing for a few seconds, then just constant beeping at 1 second intervals which doesn't change no matter how close I get to the sensors, in fact it doesn't change if I disconect the sensors.

There were no wiring instructions in the box, I assume as it was branded a Mazda part and they expect them to be dealer fitted. So connected red wire to the reverse light and black to earth. There was also a blue wire, but this was looped back inside the harness so I didn't connect to it.

Any thoughts?

having fitted these sensors to Mazdas before , what you do is reverse your vehicle to within 500mm of a wall/garage door , measured reasonably accurately , then cut the blue wire loop , tape up the ends

this sets the sensors

Yup, fitted loads of them to Mazdas (as above) and Skodas. You need to cut the loop to set them.

what happens if you cut the loop when you are nowhere near a wall?

Hopefully by joining the ends together that will put the unit back into calibration mode?

they wont work properly

yes, i would assume so , but not ever having had to do it , not totally sure

measure twice , cut once , is the correct motto here

Instructions would have helped in this instance.

I have fitted a number of kits made by Valeo, Skoda and VW in the past and never had to calibrate them before they would work. I'll know in future!
