Engine Movement

Featured Replies

Whilst it was in to repair the window that was not closing I got my local guy to check the noise/movement from the engine housing.

He said hat the drivers side and gerbox side could be done.

and their is play in the front wishbone mountings?

He said it isn't urgent it would just stop the noise.

How much would you expect for this job?

Is this the same part as the seat cupra bushes??

I think the front wishbone bushes are indeed same part as the Cupra bushes, but the OEM ones are hollow, so they are designed to 'give' a little. There is a fix for the engine mountings involving copper slip, although I've only heard this for the vRS. FWIW, the wishbone / console bushes were replaced on SWMBO's 1.4 MPi recently, and before they were done, a blip on the accelerator when in neutral was enough to produce a creak, which I first thought was the engine mounting as well as the console bushes (speedbumps are the best test for them!) but it turned out that the engine shifting within the engine bay was rocking the front suspension enough to make the bushes creak...
