Maximum Load/Minimum Weight

Although the handbook of the Mark1 Fabia Estate doesn't tell you this, it didn't take me long to figure out you only need take a screwdriver or similar to the circlip type fixings on the rear seat backs, to be able to lift them out (be prepared for a shock, they're really heavy, unlike the bases). Compared to Skoda's little tricks to loose weight for an extra mpg or so, these must make a really significant difference. Not only that, with a couple of foam blocks for filling on top of your baggage in the footwell, you can sleep two very comfortably; we're looking forward to the same trick in our Fabia II; just what you need for a quick cheap sprint south if you do the Malaga commute!
