Vibrating mirror

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any problem with drivers door mirror vibrating when closing the door, had car back to dealers twice but they have not sorted it,now going back again next week to change the whole lot,if you hold the housing while closing the door its fine ,anyway they have stripped it all down but to no avail still doing it and it sounds c++p and doing my nut in.but at least they are sorting it.

While at the dealers saw two anthracite 09 vrs going out not le and sorry to anybody who has one but not taken with the colour.:thumbdwn:

Race blue still the best :)

Mine started doing this a few weeks ago, but only after i had the mirror glass replaced. I suspect that the new glass has a looser fitting than the one that it replaced, or that in replacing it, something has come loose. I'm planning to have a closer look this weekend. Just hope I dont make it worse

My passenger door mirror twangs when it is closed and makes the thing sound cheap.

However, there are now so many other creaks and groans that I am not too fussed.

I would point it out to my dealer, but to be quite frank they are useless with 'faults'.

According to my dealer any vibrations or rattles have to be done at the dealers expense not Skoda, this is probably why the majority of dealers are not fussed or dont want to spend time looking for them.

Ok, got mine sorted today :D!

Pulled the drivers mirror glass off (from the outer edge) to find two spring "tangs" attached to the back of the glass. One is at the bottom and one to the outer edge. I think they provide pressure & resistance to stop the mirror vibratingin normal use & to provide smooth adjustment movement. I gently bent both of them outwards a little more before carefully pressing it back into place.

No more vibrating noise when I shut the door .

Now i'm not saying this is the same fault you have, or that you might not end up cracking the mirror by removing it, but it worked for me.

The dealer reckons he took the mirror to bits and refitted it but it didnt cure it so thats why he changing it with a new car he has in.
