Help on the pollen filter please?

Featured Replies

I'd appreciate a comment on this picture please. The pollen filter shown to the right of this picture has no cover over it. I "thought" that once I'd taken the plenum trim panel off that I'd see a plastic cover over the actual filter. Is there a cover missing from my car? The good news is that the filter is bone dry and there's no signs of water penetrating anywhere. The plenum itself had a bit of muck and a few leaves that I've hoovered out, But overall, all seems fine and dandy. The car is a 55 plate 2.5TDi is that matters. Thanks a lot.

There is no cover over the pollen filter, that is correct.

As for the chambers, yes they need cleaning, however it is advisable to remove the pollen filter housing and seal beneath it, where it sits on the bulkhead.

Oh and the drain channels under the battery, and brake servo.

Thank you for that. I didn't realise it was the outside of the filter housing that had to sealed. I'll do that later.

There is a guide on here on how to remove the pollen filter housing, two tips I will give you are...

The third nut that holds the filter housing in place - near the bonnet hinge, just loosen it, and slide the housing away, it is slotted to allow you to do this. Getting it back in is a nightmare.

Secondly.... The plastic gutter that runs across the top of the filter housing is a bit tricky to get out, watch your fingers!

Yeah, SJ's spot on and while you're in there it's well advised to seal it/replace the sealing strip.

If it helps, I believe the filter is a Coopers ACE006 which is stocked by all Halfords superstores.

Thanks, I'll have to have go at it again after I get some sealant strip. Reassuring that all looked very dry though.
