Removing EGR valve TDI

Featured Replies

Has anyone done this?

Is it a good thing to do or is there reasons why you shouldnt do it?

I understand why its there and what it does but at the same time cant see why you relly need it especially when it ups the inductiona temp right after the intercooler.

Ive got a kit which i havent fitted yet which consists of a replacement for the EGR valve and an oil catch tank to replace the rocker cover breather.

Whats the overall view on fitting the EGR replacement pipe?

And more to the point has anyone got one fitted and noticed a difference?

Cheers

Dan

Ive read somewhere that removing this increases the engine temp and can cause damage to valve seats!

Just wondered how? when all you are doing is remove the exhaust gas from the induction side of things!

I think quite a few of the fabia guys have done it. Stops crap being recycled into the engine. The EGR valve on my car looks like it has been filled with tar. I've got the replacement gaskets, I just haven't got around to cleaning it out yet. I have also done the pikey mod to reroute the crank case breather and vent to air via a catch can which should stop the oily crap building up in the first place.

I wasn't going to bother with removing the EGR valve. Try a search in the fabia forum.

It will put on the CEL and you need to get the ECU reprogrammed to stop it happening - good excuse for a remap!
