Fabia Rear Spacers - Which ones?

Featured Replies

Since lowering my car I've noticed that the rear wheels sit quite far inside the arch (standard alloys).

I fancy some spacers just for the rear.

I've had a look in the archives and I think 20mm is a bit much, so perhaps 15mm.

What are the best type? The ones with longer bolts or the ones which bolt to the hub, then wheels bolt to them? What makes are there?

Crucially, what are the real risks to damage to bearings etc, I've read about it but how true is it?

It the old days I ran spacer on my old 405 so I could use my old sierra alloys. Ran them for over 50K miles with no problems with bearings.

I like the idea of the ones than bolt to the hub then you bold the wheels to the spacers. Think the likes of eibach h&r do theses but not sure if you can get them for 15mm spacers.

I have Eibach Pro Spacer System 1 16mm (8mm either side) spacers on the rear of my Fabia with longer bolts to suit.

Here's what it looks like...

each or for the pair?

For 15mm each side, the best one to use is the eibach hubcentrics. They are more money for a pair though, around £90-£100 I think, including much longer wheelbolts needed

Do these make any difference to the way the car handles?

a wider track will slightly help handling. But it's in much the same way as saying removing a teaspoon of flour from a 1kg bag will make it lighter. :)

That's for the pair. The kit comes as an overall track width increase of 16mm (8mm each side)

You're right Jason, that'd be the Eibach Sys2 spacers as opposed to Sys1.

Hello,

The wheel centre is so designed to be ride equally over the bearings.

Any offset wheel centre over the bearings will effectively will place uneven loads on one particular bearing.

If you are talking a few millimetres then you should be fine, but extreme offset wheel centres will increase the chance of bearing failure.

I must admit the tyres sticking out from body look great, but add flared wheel arches would certainly be the ticket in my book, and bug*er the bearing failure. !!

Good luck with your venture.
