vrs foglights, and washer fluid....

Featured Replies

I've had my vRS around a month. And already have a cracked driver's side foglight (which I imagine will not be covered by the warranty..). So, can anyone tell me - are there any covers available to protect them? The lousy back roads that I spend most of my time driving on are all too likely to produce a few more stones to cost me money.....

Second question - the car has xenons, and I notice that the manual says I must use a screen wash fluid that doesn't affect polycarbonate plastics, and is suitable for fan jets. My nearest Skoda dealer is a bit of a trek, and the cost of Skod screen wash is about 3 times the price of standard stuff available in any garage. Is the standard stuff ok, or do I really need to fork out for Skoda fluid?

Thanks....

paul.

Some clear, self adhesive plastic over the lenses is about the best you will get for the foglights.

It is important to use the proper screenwash (If the system has any issues there could be an issue with any warranty if the correct fluid has not been used) however Morrisons and Texaco outlets sell stuff that is to spec (It's bright orange) as well as Halfords. Alternatively you could not worry too much about it and just use ordinary screenwash as the likelyhood of anything going wrong is very small.

Yes, the plastic over the lens is the best option...

I get mine fromt he Skoda garage and it costs about £1.50 for a bottle which does me for 3 refils and I can't fault it....I would never use any halfrauds stuff...

:( Oh well, better than forking out another £30 for a replacement. Thanks, I'll give it a try.

There's a Texaco not to far away. I'll see what I can find. Thanks again.

:) I guess I'd better invest in some soon. At least I've found a replacement for the broken light for around £30. So long as I can change it myself....

Ah. The initial price I saw was a fair bit more than that. At that price, I may just go with the Skoda stuff.

 I'm really enjoying the car. Even standard, its great fun to drive....
