Hi all

I have an Octavia 1.6 Classic 2002 with 54k miles on the clock, hope someone can advise me on this problem..

There is a 'squeaking' noise coming from the engine when I start the engine from cold. It squeaks in rhythm with the engine running and increases in pace when I touch the accelerator.

This noise will then go if I leave the engine running for several minutes or drive for a short distance.

I would take the car to my local garage to get it checked out but by the time I have driven there the noise will have gone completely.

A work colleague suggested a 'belt' problem?

Any ideas folks?

if it is a belt it will be the auxillary cheap and a simple diy lift the bonnet and get herself to start while you listen (check she put it in nuetral) a more common prob is a grinding noise coming from the starter again this is a fairly simple diy fix just remove clean replace.
