MOT and Service

Featured Replies

Before you smack your head with your hand, hear me out.

My Octavia II is 3 years old this June and therefore I need to have its first MOT done. In the service book, I read that it needs its second service at 40k. I am currently sitting on 41k and yes, the spanner has come up.

I take it the standard MOT isnt enough to qualify as a service. Therefore, what in heck kind of option do I pick from the many below?. Also, can anyone recommend anywhere near Windsor / Slough / Maindenhead to get it done at? Proper Skoda place I mean.

I have no clue if I am on variable or whatever its called. I just see a spanner in the dash and know I need to take it to the menders.

No an MOT isn't a service. More like a health check. The MOT assesses the road worthiness of your car but won't make any changes to your car to improve it.

What you need is an appropriate service and an MOT. Probably in that order.

If it's on variable and had a minor service at 20k it'll probably be a bigger service this time.

If you check with the Skoda dealership as long as the car has had its prevous services within the franchise network they should be able to tell what it's due.

As Aspman said the MOT is a basic check of the car to makesure it is roadworthy and the emmisions are correct etc.

It's a little bit away from you, but Willis motor Co at Ruislip are OK. Otherwise Marlborough skoda at Isleworth or going west to Parkview in Reading. Most will supply a courtesy car.

I can also recommend Willis at South Ruislip, very pleasant people.
