Indicator buzzer not working

Featured Replies

The buzzer which gives and audible warning on the indicators and hazards stopped working at the same time as the seat belt and "lights on" warning buzzer so I'm guessing its the same unit.

It briefly comes back now and again so I'm think its not a fuse just a loose wire or faulty relay. I know the older models had a similar fault and that the relay was behind the hazard switch and could easily be replaced but I'm being told that I need a new instrument cluster for £600+ to fix mine.

Anyone know where the relay is on the Octavia II ?

There's no relay I'm afraid. All the sounds are artificial. The dashpod electronics is responsible for those sounds and if they're not audible anymore then a dashpod replacement is required.

There has been a lot of these problems with the new Golf mk5 Variant.

I hope you still have warranty!

Just out of warranty - unimpressed.

Thanks for the replies.

I contacted Skoda and they have offered me a 70% discount on the price of a new part (£645). However, that still means £200 plus another £100 (since I have to have the franchised dealer fit it) - so £300 just to make my dash bleep.

Oh yes, and I had to pay them £40 for plugging in their diagnosis kit to tell me what I already knew.

I appreciate 70% off is a chunk of good will but for a part with an obvious design/manufacturing fault, nothing to do with wear and tear, on a car only just out of warranty, it's still pretty poor.

It's only a small fault (I love the car generally) but this is going to bug me for years.

I'd say take it whilst on offer. The price wont come down, and could come off and part-ex or private sale.
