Fabia vRS Brakes - Decision Needed This Weekend

Featured Replies

My brakes on my furby are shot to bits! I need new ones and planning on ordering them tommorow. I have searched the forums and Im stuck. What to get? 312mm upgrade, uprate the standard set up? I want better stopping power, remap planned for next month. Need advice and also a list of parts I need to order. Having a mate fit them, he recomended Nitrac discs and EBC pads? Want to spend £150-£300 on parts.

Need help by tommorow

Cheers,

Josh

If you are thinking of a remap then get the 312 conversion done, there is a set here within your budget, just need some green paint, they are not mine by the way:

Id go for 312's with that kind of money to spend. Im going for a set soon if my plans for brembos doesnt work out

I have the OE discs and mintex pads. My car is re mapped and I have never felt the need to change to the 312s. I have no doubt that they are better at stopping, but I dont track day my car and my brakes have never faded or felt like they would not stop me. Doing all 4 corners only cost me £160. It depends on how far you are going to modify your car. If you are going swap turbo etc. Then it might be a good idea to swap to the 312s now. If not I would just stick with OE discs and uprated pads.

312mm setup all the way. Just avoid any pads that have "Green" & "Stuff" on the box. OE 312mm discs & Tarox Strada pads would get my vote.

I have a full set of EBC discs and pads on my recently bought VRS and i find the brakes dire! Braking from any great speed gives off a chronic drone and driving round town all you can hear with the window open is a whining clicking noise...its like being 12 again and having spokey dokeys on my Raleigh Grifter! Cant wait to change them back to standard.

My OE brakes had come to the end of there life and had bought the 312mm a while ago as part of the master plan so got them on. With the standard power they really were not needed, couple of months later and got it re-mapped , now the 312mm are worth every penny! with a map the car puts on speed at an alarming (but fun) rate, you need those brakes to scrubb it off as fast as possible!

I strongly recomend the 312's plus it could help with your insurance premiums as your making the car safer!

312 all the way - better feel, better feedback, better control, last longer, look OEM, and fit under stock and larger wheels :)

312's again recommended for your budget. Go Go Go. or should I say Stop Stop Stop.

If you were happy with the standard setup then why change?

If you are then just buy new oem discs but maybe look at some good uprated pads. Would recommend changing the fluid to super dot 4. That's what I found to bethe problemwith the 288mm setup (as well as feel) was I kept boiling the fluid.
