fuel problem?

Featured Replies

hi, ive recently noticed that my car is now really poor on fuel.

i used to get around 130miles to £25, but lately im lucky if i get to 90miles. im not driving it any different?

is there anything that can cause this problem??

Thanks

I think you will find that the price of fuel has gone up,and so you will get less fuel for your £25,so its is not rocket science as to why you get less miles.

yes ano that, but didnt think it would make that much of a difference, clever ****!

A 5p per litre increase in price means you will approx 1 gallon less for your £25.

That makes more sense... not rocket science after all eh!!

i put £25 of fuel in mine last week & have covered 170m so far, this has been a mixture of driving, some motorway & some town driving, mine is a 04 vrs,i think you have either a very heavy right foot or your car has a drinking problem!! id check for a fuel leak, check the basics like a blocked air filter, brakes binding? is there any warning lights on? when was the car last serviced? hope this helps you.:)

its down to how u drive the car too ... if u r heavy on gas then the car will drink like a fish .... in motorway i average 33mpg jus below 80mph

Thanks ill have a look at it, erm it was service just before i bought it 3 months ago. im getting it done again soon though, to be honest i dont really go that far, maily too work and back, n then maybe to town? cant really speed round here aswell.. its had a few mods done to it like. i'll have it checked out and see what happens.

In a mixture of town and dual carriage way driving, not slowly, but sticking to 70 ish, I'm disappointed if my MPG drops below a 40 average. I get 32 commuting in London traffic. It's a 1.8 20V non turbo. I'm regularly getting 100 miles from a tenners worth. I love trying to drive economically and find it a real challenge, avoiding braking at all costs and trying to anticipate what's going on around me. It makes driving interesting without risking speeding tickets and fines. I must be getting old.
