Simple DPF question

Featured Replies

I'm sorry if the answer is buried in some random thread somewhere. I've done 'the search' using key words, but can't find the answer.

Quite simply then, has the 105 bhp engine on the Mk2 Octavia got the dreaded DPF or not?

I'd been led to believe that is hasn't, but afer having just visited the 'Dragon Tuning Box' website, it lists the 1.9 Mk2 Octavia as having it.

I'm confused.

At present, the only Mk 2 Octavias equipped with the DPF are the 2.0TDI PD140 in the Scout and the 2.0TDI PD/CR 170 in the vRS.

The 1.9 has never had the DPF in the Octavia at least. IIRC there are a couple of 1.9TDI bluemotion VWs that are DPF equipped.

It depends on where the car was bought.. In Norway, and I believe Sweden as well, all New diesel engined Skoda cars after 2008 model have DPF as standard. The only diesel engine without one is the 70 hp TDI offered on cheap Fabia and Roomster models.

The 1,9 TDI 105 hp with DPF have engine letters BLS.

My post was based on the presumption the OP is English :)

Correct. For the 2.0TDi PD140 its only on the scout, all other variants do not have a DPF. My 55 plate 2.0PD TDi Elegance for example does not have one.

That's what I would suggest.

Thanks for the replies then lads. I can confirm that my interest lies within the UK.

However, I'm still confused as to why 'Dragon' are listing their tuning box under '1.9 mk2 DPF'.

Even more bafflement has now descended on me though, as I was also under the impression that the 140 does have a DPF, and that is why I've specifically been looking at 105's only for a possible replacement car

My 2.0 TDi PD140 has a DPF, it's the 4x4 variant, i.e. not Scout. It's an 08 plate.

New 1.9 TDi i think has got DPF as a standard

Not quite correct for the UK but close - as riph72 points out the 2.0TDi 4x4 also has a DPF. Not sure when this came in but our March 07 version is an example.

The easiest way to check is to look at the 3 letter codes on the Spec plate in the boot. If they have 7GG on them then it has a DPF.
