Yeah, anything with nut oil in it will help. It just then tends to be the challenge of making the finish last. I find the most effective solution is Meg's Vinyl Cleaner, which actually lifts the dirt and cleans the plastic rather than masking over it. Then 303 Aerospace Protectant over the top when dried, which gives a decent long-lasting finish to rubber and vinyl, without leaving a shiny look - it's a matte finish.

I have not used this stuff myself, this thread tells me it does work. Does it matter if it the smooth or the chunky stuff?

There are other things to try: I've been told half a Lemon will clean chrome and metal. Use a pencil rubber (eraser) to remove dried polish from plastic trim. I have used this many times and it works very well.
